I’m a big fan of Brandon Routh’s casting as Superman in Superman Returns so this was a huge occasion for me. This was all thanks to Speedy Comics for having invited me to be one of their special guests as part of their retail store grand opening at City Walk 2 in Dubai.
Before the show, I knew I had to sketch him on one of my Superman #1 sketch covers and get him to sign it, which was exactly what I did. He was quite impressed to say the least!
Along with my sketch cover, I was also requested by Speedy Comics to do an artwork of Brandon to be sold as prints at the launch. I did so with pleasure! 100 prints were made and I was excited to have the first one signed for myself. Things however did not go as planned... The Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) was also happening during this time (which we were all guests at). Someone saw my signed copy and really wanted to buy it. I was assured by Speedy Comics that I would get another signed copy no problem, so I sold it. In the end, I never got another copy. At the very least I still have the signed sketch cover which I’m grateful for.
Brandon has an amazing energy. He feels very calm and stable as a person with a soft warm nature about him. He's also surprisingly tall at 6.2ft / 189cm (I'm 5.9ft / 179cm). Super grateful I got to cross paths with Brandon Routh!
